As a writer, I’ve learned that inspiration is everywhere. You just have to be looking. There are times that I’ll just be listening to a song and a perfect scene for my novel will just form in my head. I try to always carry a notebook with me to jot down notes because I’ve learned that if you don’t write it down, you’ll probably forget it when you get home.
I really love this quote by Orson Scott Card. It says, “Everybody walks past a thousand story ideas every day. The good writers are the ones who see five or six of them. Most people don’t see any.” It’s just so true. We go through our lives with our heads down, but then expect inspiration to come to us when we sit down to write. So I challenge you to keep your heads up and see the beauty of the flowers, the complexity of life, the wonders of nature, and the many story ideas that are all around you just waiting to be discovered.
